Inspirado por lo que Steven Soderbergh hace cada año, hoy decidí relajarme un poco y ver qué películas y mini-series vi en el 2022. Yo uso Letterboxd para tener mi diario de las cosas que veo y sigo a unos amigos para ver qué ven ellos.
En el 2022 vi 315 películas. Eso significa que vi 563.3 horas de películas o 26.2 películas al mes o 6.1 películas a la semana. O sea, casi una película al día. Creo que este año fue un año muy parecido a lo que veía cuando estaba estudiando cine el cual fue un propósito que me puse empezando el 2022.
Es increíble lo poco cine que ve muchos directores y productores que conozco que hacen parte de la industria. Creen que ver cine es para su entretenimiento y sólo se concentran en los blockbusters de Hollywood o las películas que están de moda. Eso no está mal y en parte tiene que ser entretenimiento, pero una gran parte debe ser educación. Es muy difícil que vean una película que no sea de la última década.
La primera película que vi en el año fue el especial de Netflix Death to 2021 y la última que vi fue Bergman Island. La película que más vi en el año fue obviamente mi propia película Ultraviolencia ya que estaba terminando la etapa de post. La vi 10 veces durante el año.
Las películas de David Lynch, vi 10 de sus películas y cortometrajes, junto a Richard Linklater (5) fueron los dos directores que su trabajo más vi en el 2022. Se nota que estaba preparando Sábado Oscuro.

Con estas películas y mini-series, he llegado a 3.804 que he visto (o al menos) registrado en Letterboxd. Sin duda en el 2023 es poder pasar esa barrera de las 4.000.
Para contrarrestar un poco donde todos jugamos a ser críticos de cine en Letterboxd, leí una frase de Richard Linklater que personalmente me llenó:
“I’d strongly suggest never engaging with a critic or someone who has written negatively about you or your film. I made that mistake once early on. As you know, they have a tough job, particularly at festivals where they are sleep-deprived and over-worked. Leave out the possibility that the same writer can come to realize they overshot the mark with your film and take that into consideration in the future. Pointing out to them what an idiot they are will likely just earn you 10 years of bad reviews and a pissy attitude. In fact, if you ever encounter them, be above the pettiness of how what they wrote affected you and just try to engage with a fellow film lover. Don’t give them the power, because in the long term, they really don’t have any, at least no one person does. Just try to always respect the profession and know the best of them see it as a calling.”
